Information

This painting under the title “Space Skating” belongs to a series of Belinha´s paintings which are a tribute to the eyes of all terrestrial beings and to the thousands of various planets in the Galaxy. In this painting, each one of the two characters has three legs allowing them to skate better. One of them has a human eye and the other one a dragon´s eye instead of heads. They are skating trying to explore this wonderful planet full of special skyscrapers. It was created with Belinha's mixed technique ‘Painted Porcelain & Acrylic on Canvas'. The whole canvas was painted in acrylic and then drawn partially with a pen. The four characters in their two spacecrafts are all created with pieces of broken porcelain, drawn, painted and fired several times between 750 Cº and 900 Cº.

Belinha SilvaHA03Art is my essential food of soul, crucial to awake my feelings, senses and emotions. Having always had a huge passion for art, I couldn’t escape from creating. In 2005, while living in Brussels, I attend for the first time artistic courses. I had the highlight of my life by understanding my real artistic potential, the irresistible desire to develop it and the punch to express myself artistically. Since then, I draw, paint in acrylic, watercolor, and oil, paint on porcelain, as well as on silk, I sculpt and create jewelry. I always work according to the inspirations and feelings of the moment, linked to a socio-cultural, historical, sentimental or personal context. I invented my own art style, which is a mixture of Surrealistic, Optical Art, Pop Art or Abstract painting. In a few words, it is a contemporary art style influenced by the various European countries where I have lived. My creative spirit and the accumulation of various art techniques allow me, as a self-taught painter, to achieve creations which are the fruit of my own designs and to develop my own working techniques according to my needs. I like to innovate, combining textures and materials. Therefore, I invented a mixed technique "Painted Porcelain & Acrylic on canvas" by mixing two completely different materials, porcelain with canvas. This technique allows me to create an avant gardiste, contemporary and inimitable work, giving also a new life to porcelain. I mainly paint my canvas in acrylic, but I paint also in watercolour and oil, as well as with the enormous palette of porcelain painting pigments and mediums. The aim of my paintings is to brighten up our daily live and to touch the sensitivity of the public. I hope you enjoy my artworks, as much as I enjoy creating them… Belinha Silva Exhibitions Lisbon – Barcelona  –  Zurich – Brussels  – London  – Venice  – Madrid  –  Rome  –  Luxembourg  –  Paris  –  Lecce  –  Leiria  – Milano – New York.
