Bhavika Dugar

Namaste! My name is Bhavika Dugar and I specialize in lithography along with various kinds of relief printmaking. I earned my B.A. in Visual Arts and Business Management at Wheaton College, Massachusetts.

Why printmaking? I get asked this often because this technique is ancient and not many people practice it, especially in Nepal where I currently reside. I chose this field because I love experimenting and playing with texture and printmaking has allowed me to do that without variation in my final versions. There are many facets to experiment with and a very organic way to express my artistry with every minute detail reflecting my vision.

I garnered these skills through rigorous training under my professor Claudia R. Fieo, a renowned American printmaker. I have participated in multiple exhibitions, which has helped me get exposure and understand the art world better. Along with this, I believe that I can reinvent the dying art of printmaking by using modern materials and techniques, upheaving this lost art, and bringing it into the limelight.

My art attempts to do justice to the city’s complexity using various materials and new technologies to recreate how I envision its urban reality.
